Let’s walk through some simple ways to optimize your Google Business Profile.

Go to Google Search and look up your business name.

This will load your Google Business Profile dashboard, where you can edit your profile, respond to reviews, monitor search performance, and more.

Click “Edit profile.” You’ll see a pop-up with your current business information.

To edit a section, hover over it until you see the pencil icon appear.

But before you dive into editing, let’s review some simple ways to optimize your Google business profile for search.

First, make sure your business description contains your primary keywords and does not exceed seven hundred and fifty words. You should also have up-to-date contact information and hours of operation, with your name and address appearing the same way they do on your website.

Once you save your changes, you’ll be directed back to your dashboard.

Another important part of optimizing your Google Business Profile involves responding to reviews. Click “Read reviews” to see what people have posted. You can like a review by clicking the thumbs-up icon and respond directly to reviews by clicking “Reply.”

Responding to both good and bad reviews strengthens your reputation by indicating that you’re active, engaged, and dedicated to providing the best customer experience.

Finally, further optimize your profile with images. You’ve used your primary keywords in your business description, but you can also use them when uploading images to your profile.

To add an image, navigate to your dashboard and click “Add photo.” You’ll have the option to add a relevant photo, a logo, and a cover image.

Click on any of these to upload corresponding image files.

Before you upload a photo, make sure you include a keyword and your business name in the photo’s file name. Since Google can’t see your image, adding alt text will help it better understand what’s in the photo.

An optimized Google Business Profile helps boost your business’s visibility in local search results and helps nearby customers find you when they need you.
